5 Reviews for Panasonic TX-32LXD700 - 32" Widescreen Viera HD Ready LCD TV - With Freeview
A great TV. - 23 Apr 2008

When our Panasonic 26" CRT began to expire after many years good service we chose one of these. The 700 has proved to be an excellent replacement. It's been with us over 9 months now. Important features include 100Hz which gives an improved frame rate making action sequences run more smoothly. The picture quality on Freeview is brilliant. Even the display of black is good which is a triumph for an LCD screen. Its speakers are well designed and enabled us to scrap the hi-fi. Our music now plays back back over the TV in mp3 format without any extra paraphernalia. This TV is very easy to set up and control.

Panasonic make excellent value, pound for pound TVs. Only Pioneer are better for large plasmas but for LCD screens up to 32inch they consistently make excellent products. The golden rule is up to 32inch, LCD is king but above that the deeper black levels and higher contrast of plasmas wins the day.
This TV looks quality straight out of the box, is built very well and blends seemlessly into the room.
The off air picture using the in built freeview (ie normal tv) is just so good its incredible - the colours are vibrant, there is minimal noise and depth of picture is amazing.
Loading up a dvd using a component cable takes things to a higher plane and using a decent dvd source wit decent HDMI cable - in my cas arcam solo movie 2.1 and QED HDMI cable provides a truly sumptious picture.
The TV is not Full HD, ie 720p only but done be fooled by this. Remember you need a big screen to appreciate the superior resolution of Full HD and a 32inch screen that is full HD wont allow you to witness the extra resolution. Even then, many Full HD screens cant handle motion correctly at 24fps.
The sound is also very good on this unit if you dont want to hook up to a hifi or AV amp.
Functionality is excellent with 3 HDMI inputs, the remote control is a dream.
Overall, no complaints - it may be slightly more expensive than most 32inch LCDs but there is a good reason for this.

I bought this set to replace my old Panasonic Quintrix 32 inch CRT. It works seamlessly with my Panasonic DVD recorder and VM V+ box. HD pictures through the V+ box are stunning. The Freeview tuner is the best I've experienced. The 32LXD700 makes a very good job of SD TV and DVD as well. The three HDMI ports are very handy (I've used two already). The sound is very good and quite acceptable for movie watching. I connect to my hifi for the extra bit of omph for the occasional movie and that works well. The remote control is easy to use and responds quickly. I would have preferred more contrast but I understand that this is class leading as far as LCD's are concerned. We are viewing from nine feet away and this is fine. You can sit several feet further forward viewing HD or photos from an SD card. Highly reccommended.

There is not a lot to add to what has already been said about this TV. I did a lot of research before purchasing this particular model - and with no regrets.
Firstly, this is a Panasonic, who lead the field at the moment in terms of quality and technology regarding TV developement (Im not saying this - independant magazines, on line forums and industry awards do!)
This looks like a quality piece of kit - easy to clean, too.
The picture quality is truely exceptional for a TV of this size. It has a resoloution of 720p - but dont let that put you off if you are after a full HD TV. This Pan can upscale to 1080p at 24 fps (basicly the best HD resoloution, at movie quality speed). Put a Blu ray disc through this TV and the picture quality is absoloutly amazing.
DVD / next Gen games are also at exceptional quality.
But the winner for me is the off air pictures. That means basicly "normal TV" This model has an excellent on board digital tuner for freeview - and the picture is incredable for normal tv. no blocking, no "noise". My ariel cable is about 15 years old, the connection is loose at the TV end, yet when I put it in the back of the Pan - I still get fantastic quality.
Sound - for a flat screen - it is the best in its class - excelent surround sound - if your not going to get speakers and sound is not your number one prioroty - the speakers on this pan are of a sufficent quality to make movie watching a quality experience.
Even simple things like the navigation menus on the TV, the size and lay out of the remote - scream quality and are increadably user friendly.
It sells out of every shop almost as quickly as it arrives. This TV is worth the hype, What Hi Fi TV of the year, winner of the super test for 32 inch screen, countless other awards....if you want the best there is, with a quality that will last 10 - 15 years...and stay cutting edge - this is the TV to buy.
Also - sorry Amazon - but id get this TV from a store. For the price - you need to see it, test it, and if anything goes wrong - you want to talk to a real person - not a Indian call center.
Buying on line may be cheaper - but if you want a 5 year warranty with this TV - from a store it is cheaper than on line!!
ie John Lewis at time of writing £849 - includeing 5 year warrenty and deliverey. - And they are meant to be expensive!
I got mine from a local HI Fi Specialist shop and got them to throw in a top notch HDMI Cable (1080p, 1.3a HDMI) you need it really if you are putting ur ps3 or high deff player through this Pan. The advice not to scrimp on the cable quality cannot be emphasised enough - get a good HDMI (QED - 1m - £45)
to conclude - the best 32inch TV on the market. Fact.
Excellent TV and Tough! - 29 Nov 2007

There are some lengthy reviews below that wax lyrical about the picture and sound from this TV. It is a marvellous LCD TV...and I did my research too before buying it. In getting top AV magazine and Which awards, you really cannot go wrong with this TV.
However, I wanted to add to those below; I recently moved this LCD TV and in the process dropped it! It landed on a bottom corner, making a sizeable dent (and THUD) in the wooden floor board. I have had 2 months.
Not only was there a sizeable dent in my wooden floor, but there was no crack, scratch, warping, and most importantly, operational damage to the unit. Nothing. Not one thing. I counldn't even see an impact mark in the plastic casing. I guess Panasonic's Toughbook technology must be in this! ;)
So get this TV not just for the fantastic picture, not for the superb sound, but for its excellent durabiliy!
