This set offers a lovely clean image free from blurring and digital artefacts, especially from DVD'S via HDMI (720p setting is best) and is a doddle to set up and use. I tweaked the screen using a THX test signal (contained on a lot of DVDS) to get the optimium settings for contrast etc - there are lots of settings to tweak the image although I have tried various combinations and found the best results were achieved through the above method).
SD broadcasts definately benefit from a decent arial feed and freeview digital TV images are far better than those of analogue broadcasts, with a sharper, more vibrant picture (although not quite as good as DVD images in my experience). The pixel plus 2 HD is permanently on so I am unable to offer any suggestion as to whether it is a bonus or hinderance to the image displayed. The set is easily wall mounted as well as having a robust, removable stand and build quality is excellent.
For anyone who has an ariel socket on the wall or who needs to connect an external device i would recommend upgrading the arial leads/scarts etc, using something like QED's ttv ariel lead, P21 scart, HDMI-P Lead - These kind of things make a substantial difference to the quality of the image, surprisingly so.
This is an excellent TV, outstanding value and heartily recommended.
good all-rounder... - 01 Feb 2008

having lived with this 37" LCD tv for some months, I have nothing but praise for it. Its the first LCD TV I have owned, and i was not too sure just what to expect, but picture quality (after setting up) is first rate. picture geometry is always perfect, and image sharpness on freeview is 100%. My only downer is the sound quality... just not great at low volumes, but useable and par for the course as LCD TVs go. All in all, well up there with the Sonys and Panasonics top end gear.

Great TV - thou' takes some getting used to. I was going to get the 42" version but I'm glad I got this as it is massive. You need to view from about 10' back to get a good image, another reason why getting a massive TV is not too clever - you may need to sit in the street to get a good image. This Philips looks very modern, was easy to setup and get going. I'd recommend a component connection for games consoles (or HDMI) as the image is brilliant. Sound on this is great too. Well worth the price I paid.
Very Happy with TV - 09 Jan 2008

The only thing i haven't liked about the service was that it took 7 day's to get here even though it's on first class delivery.
I read the review before and tend to agree yea there are TV's out's there with a slightly better picture but there's nothing in it really. The sound is fine. It looks very pretty.
Overall for the money i think it's a brilliant buy !
Great picture but sound lets it down - 27 Jun 2007

Firstly, I took a risk buying this TV without reading any reviews as it has only just come out. The set itself is very attractive in gloss black. The picture quality is excellent in HD, this is helped by the 6ms response time. Colours are vibrant and rich. Black levels are good for an lcd of this size. More expensive sets could better it though. For the best performance stick to 1080p or 720p. Standard definition holds up well too. The sound quality is the only let down, often sounding too deep and difficult to pick out voices. However, if you're buying a screen of this size, chances are you'll be running it through a surround sound system anyway. All in all, very good for the money plus it displays 1080p!
