Amazed and blown away
a few complaints on here. i have had none of them
720p set which is great for the size. 40" plus would recommend 1080p. But at that point you would need a blue ray player and blue ray movies all at alot of cost. This tv is perfect to watch normal dvds upscaled. Due to this tv i have had to rewatch all of my dvds as this tv does them justice.
would recommend to everyone. I can not compare this tv to the £1000 plus as i dont have. but this tv is a amazing price and just works. no problems, it does what it is supposed to do.

When I opened the box I was delighted to see how stylish and sleek the tv looked. If you can get this tv for under £500 it is a bargain. Only downside is that fast moving pictures could be a bit sharper.

Being a true Sony fan, I was somewhat skeptical about buying a Samsung. I originally ordered the KDL40S3000 from Amazon, but they messed the stock control up and informed me I'd have to wait 2 months for my TV! So, I bought the Samsung LE37R87 and I have not been disappointed.
It's certainly not an 'out-of-the-box' TV though, it took me a good week or so to custimise the settings, buy the best cables for the job etc. 'AV Forums' is a crakcing website that will give you a complete guide to the settings broken down by AV source. My XBOX 360 is now hooked up via a VGA cable and so I can run it through 'PC mode' - it looks stunning! Standard definition (freeview) sometimes appears to be better quality than DVDs! I've not been disappointed with the standard definition picture, and it's mainly SD that I watch. It's a good size too. I usually sit about 1.5m away for TV and 1m away for gaming.
To summarise, the more time you spend custimising the picture settings, the happier you'll be. But if you're the kind of person that relishes the idea of navigating the service menu, then this TV is maybe not for you? (That is of course, if you're not fussy - but then you wouldn't be reading this, would you!)

I've recently upgraded from a 28' CRT to this one. Havent had any issues with it so far. It's got good picture quality, decent sound, although sounds better with a good set of speakers. Is packed with features and set-up is quite easy too. Other positive points, it looks great, has got a flexible stand and pretty lightweight...The only reason I've given it 4 stars is, the background needs to be adjusted on some chanels, this can be sometimes annoying if you flip channels.....otherwise a good buy

I have now had this tv for 2 months and have to say that so far I have not been disappointed. Initial set up was not too straightforward but after about 30 minutes we were up and running. Customising the picture options is well worth spending some time over - the default settings weren't exactly to our taste. Once tweaked, however, the result is truly satisfying. The sound quality is fairly average, but as I have linked it to my Panasonic Surround System, this is not an issue for me. So far, we have only watched tv and DVDs in standard definition, and have no complaints as to picture quality.
My overall impression is that I made the right decision in choosing this LCD TV and look forward to watching Hi Def stuff in the future.
