You get what you pay for! - 29 Oct 2007

This is a fantastic TV, replacing a broken 19" CRT in our bedroom. Great picture and Bravia processing works a treat. All kinds of adjustments including colour, contrast and even backlight control. Sound is clear and well rounded. Despite questionable viewing angles of 178, which it clearly doesn't have, I still give this TV 5 stars as the blacks and colours are without doubt the best I have seen on an LCD of this size. The remote control is a treat to use and all on screen menus are intuative. My 32" CRT has also just packed up (two broken TV's in less than a fortnight, what's the chances of that?) I know which manufacturer I will be buying from.

I purchased this television to replace my old crt television in my bedroom, as well as buying it for the new consoles.
I have to say I was not disappointed by this television at all, the picture quality is superb, the menus are simple to use and the freeview guide system is better than a lot of others.
As for vouching on its lifespan, i've only owned this from august so its too early to say, I will however mention that I find that sony products are built to last.

The Sony KDL20S2030 is proof of the philosophy that you get what you pay for - you can buy a 20" LCD TV for half the price of this one. However, both the visual and audio quality of this set puts it at the top of the pile. The picture is vibrant, sharp and very lifelike with an almost startling intensity that is missing in most other sets of this size and larger. Also, the sound quality belies the size of the set in that it is extremely clear and has significant presence to it. Additionally, the range of settings and connections including HDMI is very wide indeed. Initial setup is very easy too being largely automatic.
Only two slight "nit picks" from someone who is hard to please when it comes to gadgets - the remote control is silver as opposed to black (I bought the black version of this TV) and its scale is disproportionately large given the size and likely placement of this set - to me this is lazy on the part of Sony in such an expensive product. I think they "borrowed" a remote from a larger set.
Overall, though, this is a high quality product, that is well finished with matt surfaces to the cabinet and screen (unlike the distracting shiny "piano black" of some rival manufacturers sets), high quality output and logical controls. In summary, unreservedly recommended.
