This unit is fine as a 2nd telly with good sound and picture quality, but changing channels and turning it on take for ever - must be a good 5 secs to change channel which would drive me mad if this was our main telly

Toshiba has a cracking reputation in the world of LCD TV, and rightly so, so it is disappointing to see that this entry-level 15" LCD is, well, just not good enough (I paid £[...] for mine). Whilst the unit is attractive and apparently well built, it has two major flaws; firstly, the picure is not the best. Not only is it fairly low resolution and therefore inherently lacking in sharpness, but it struggles with contrast in low light scenes, making you reach for the remote every time to have a tweak to see if you can improve matters. The problems are present with both the internal TV signal and with an external Freeview box (both RGB and composite) but are less so when fed a decent DVD signal. The second major problem is the sluggishness of the controls. Everything seems to work in slow motion and whilst that isn't a problem for using the menus (as you don't do it too often) with basics like volume and channel control, it is very frustrating. As a footnote, the sound is weedy in the extreme, although this is probably more a fault of the genre rather than this instance. In summary, dig a bit deeper and get yourself a Sony 15G2000; lovely sharp pictures from the inbuilt freeview box due to a higher res panel, and some nice clean colours and contrasts.

This TV is the best I have seen for the money. The picture quality is superb, so sharp. It made us realise how poor a picture we had on the old one. We have it as an extra TV for the bedroom. Definitely worth a recommendation for the price.

This TV is great and you can't go wrong with it for picture quality. It's rather good for an LCD screen.
I bought this for University and wanted to play my Xbox 360 on it. However, because of the position of the SCART socket and the stand of the TV, it's impossible to plug the SCART plug in because of the addition red white and yellow wires.
So those of you considering this TV for playing your console on, bear in mind you will have to buy a SCART extension lead which only costs around £5 anyway.

bought this tv yesderday and is stunning! such a gd design and lcd quality is fantastic couldnt ask for better all the inputs are well hid to keep all the cables tidy which is really handy. also has the pc input which is why i bought it. i use a indoor ariel and that alone gets a really good picture! connected it up to my freeview box and the quality was even better! i had my channels tunned in, in less than 5 minutes! thinking of gettin it wall mounted as it can be placed on a wall. 10 out of 10 nice one toshiba
